Examines computer applications involving automatic processing of natural language speech or text by machines. Intended as preparation for CLMS core courses. Includes concepts form probability and statistics; formal grammars and languages; finite-state automata and transducers; review of algorithms and data structures; and software for using parallel server cluster.
