Andrew Hedding has been awarded a Simpson Center for the Humanities Digital Humanities Summer Fellowship to support the development of a public online dictionary for San Martín Peras Mixtec. The project builds on an existing research database of lexical entries with audio recordings, tonal annotation, and English and Spanish translations. This summer, the fellowship will fund expansion of the dataset from roughly 1,000 to 2,000 entries, refinement of the SQL-based web interface, and development of an interactive orthography guide in consultation with native speakers. The long-term goal is a living digital archive of approximately 5,000 entries serving both the speaker community and the broader research community.
