Members of the UW Linguistic Bias Working group Russ Hugo, Alex Panicacci, & Betsy Evans together with 4 genetic counselors Katie Fiallos, Valentina CaceresDaniela Diaz CaroGayun Chan-Smutko and 1 graduate student, Elizabeth LeBlanc, created a workshop for the annual meeting of the National Society for Genetic Counselors. The workshop, titled “I can’t understand you!”: A workshop to address linguistic bias and discrimination in genetic counseling, took place on November 9, 2025 in Seattle.
