Summer registration is now open!
Here are some of the exciting courses we're offering this Summer:
- ASL 134 Intensive First Year American Sign Language
A 15 credit intensive course in beginning American Sign Language equivalent to three quarters of ASL (ASL 101-103). The student will be introduced to the basic grammatical structure of the language, begin developing receptive and expressive signing skills and be introduced to the Deaf culture. In addition to learning the history of how ASL began, learn about technological devices and services established specifically for the Deaf people in the community.
This summer we are excited to offer three sections of ASL 134 (A, B, C) in-person and one section of the course (D) synchronous online / remote!

- LING 200 Introduction to Linguistics
Earn Arts and Humanities (A&H) and Reasoning (RSN) Credits!
Study one of the most fundamental characteristics of humans—language! We will analyze language at all levels of linguistic structure, from phonetics to semantics, as well as look at topics in language acquisition, sociolinguistics, neurolinguistics, and signed languages.
- LING 234 Language and Diversity - Online (Asynchronous)
Earn Diversity (DIV) and Social Sciences (SSc) Credits!
This online course takes a wide view of language diversity, covering multilingualism around the world, as well as within a nation and an individual. We will examine topics in sociolinguistics, language genesis, change, and loss, language and identity, signed languages, language and education, and language and politics.
LING 234 has also been features in the Continuum College article "More Than Words: Digging Into the Culture and Diversity of Language"!
