Catalog Description:
Introduction to the articulatory and acoustic correlates of speech sounds. Issues covered include articulatory and acoustic descriptions of sounds of the World's languages, transcription using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), and auditory and physiological constraints that shape speech sound typology. Prerequisite: either LING 200 or LING 400.
